I started off this project by tackling one of the hardest design problems we’d run into yet. "Hello, Dot" has a lot of minigames, so we needed a way to bring up many different systems to interact with... but we also don't want players' space to feel crowded and uncomfortable. We discovered during initial playtesting that it easy to feel overwhelmed when 4-6 different huge modules pop up around your office!
My solution? A dumbwaiter-inspired "module system" with a hollow frame that accommodates different modules/faceplates, which you summon with the lever on the left. Early concept art below! Some of the features you see here changed during playtesting, but the idea's all there.

The team size on this project was quite small, which allowed me to flex into related disciplines - I ended up creating complex materials in Shader Graph and making all of our in-game achievement stickers with vector art using Adobe Illustrator!
